Chocolate Torte

Crust Ingredients:
• 1 1/2 cups chocolate wafers(finely ground in food processor or otherwise)
• 3/4 stick butter (6 T) melted and cooled completely(my dad says it just has to be softened)
Preparation:
Mix up into thick paste, cover bottom and sides of 8” spring form pan bake at 350 degrees for 10 min. cool completely for 15 min.
Filling Ingredients:
• 1/2 lb fine quality bittersweet chocolate, no more than 60% cacao content, coarsely chopped
• 3/4 stick butter, softened
• 2 lg eggs, lightly beaten
• 1/3 C heavy cream
• 1/4 C sugar
• 1/4 t salt
• 1 t vanilla extract
Preparation:
Melt chocolate and butter in a 2 Q saucepan over low heat
whisk together eggs, cream, sugar, salt, vanilla in bowl
add chocolate mixture, pour into crust
bake until fi lling is fi rm 1” from edge, but middle trembles
when pan is shaken, 20-25 min. at 350 degrees
cool, then chill, uncovered, about 4 hours
